Dear New Patient,

Thank you for choosing Tennessee Valley Bone and Joint as your provider in orthopedic care. I am Mr. Tony Edwards, a native Tennessean and born in Cleveland, TN. I have been involved in health care in the Cleveland-Chattanooga area’s for over 30 years. I graduated with a master’s degree in nursing in 2008 at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. I am Board Certified in Family Practice and licensed in Tennessee.

Let me tell you what nurse practitioner’s do. Nurse practitioners (NP’s) are registered nurses with advanced academic and clinical experience. Nurse practitioners are educated through programs that grant either a certificate or a master’s degree in nursing. Through this advanced training, nurse practitioners are able to diagnose and manage most common and many chronic illnesses, either independently or as part of a health care team. All nurse practitioners must pass a national examination to become Board Certified in their specialty. There are many different areas that nurse practitioners specialize in during their academic and clinical training. These specialties include adult medicine, acute care, geriatrics, pediatrics, psychiatric/mental health, family practice, and women’s health. After a nurse practitioner becomes Board Certified, he or she may then choose to specialize further such as in orthopedic care and surgery.

As an orthopedic NP at Tennessee Valley Bone and Joint my role is to obtain a medical history, perform orthopedic examinations, order and interpret test, diagnose and treat non-surgical orthopedic injuries, prescribe medication, monitor your response to treatment, and perform various in-office procedures such as joint and trigger point steroid injections and cast application.

I will collaborate with your orthopedic surgeon, as well as other health care providers involved in your care.

I enjoy traveling and the outdoors and spending time with my family and grandchildren. I am a licensed pilot.

I look forward to meeting you and being part of your orthopedic care. The health care team at Tennessee Valley Bone and Joint takes pride in their care and want to make your visit the best.

Sincerely,

Tony Edwards, NP-C
